Research interest

Main research interest is inflammatory arthritides with a special interest in rheumatoid arthritis.

- Mechanisms of disease pathogenesis (inflammatory cytokines, innate and adaptive immune responses)

- Cardiovascular risk and metabolic disturbances in patients with chronic inflammatory arthritides.

- Clinical and biological effects of biologic therapies in patients with chronic inflammatory arthritides.

In order to address those questions we study biologic material (peripheral blood, synovial fluid, synovial tissue) from patients as well as animal models of inflammatory arthritis (collagen induced arthritis –CIA) and transgenic animal models (NLRP3 KO, PD-1 KO). Those projects are done by the close collaboration of the rheumatology Clinic of the University Hospital and the Laboratory of Rheumatology, Autoimmunity and Inflammation of the Medical School. We also collaborate we European partners (Karolinska institute, Leiden University) within research consortia (AUTOCURE, BTCure project).
